Paris Saint-Germain acquires Nuno Mendes permanently
Paris Saint-Germain today activated the option to buy Portuguese left-back Nuno Mendes, who was on loan from Sporting and has now signed a contract until June 30, 2026 with the French football champions.
“Paris Saint-Germain registered the definitive transfer of Nuno Mendes. The Portuguese left-back is now linked to the club until June 30, 2026”, reads on the PSG website.
According to a statement from Sporting to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM), the Parisians pay 38 million euros for the hiring of Nuno Mendes, after having already spent seven million for the loan.
The 19-year-old Portuguese international player, did almost all of his training at Sporting, the club to which he indicates, he arrived in the children’s level, after a start at FC Despertar, leaving only in the 2021/22 season for the Parisians.
Nuno Mendes is the 13th Portuguese to wear the jersey of PSG, a club for which Fernando Cruz, Humberto Coelho and João Alves, Agostinho, Hélder Batista, Filipe Teixeira, Manuel Abreu, Hélder Cristóvão, Kenedy, Hugo Leal, Pauleta and Goncalo Guedes.
In his first season at PSG, Nuno Mendes played 37 games and provided two assists, contributing to his 10th French title.
The full-back was also named the best young player, as well as the best left-back in Ligue 1.
Nuno Mendes, who has 13 caps for Portugal’s main team, is part of the group that prepares the League of Nations, a competition in which Portugal starts on Thursday against Spain, in a game scheduled for Seville.
