Mbappé says European football is ‘more advanced’ than South American football
With a renewed contract with Paris Saint-Germain , Mbappé is already eyeing the World Cup in Qatar. In an interview with “TNT Sports”, the striker placed current champions France among the favorites for the title and pointed out the distance between European and South American football .
Mbappé believes that the good performance of the European teams in the last World Cups is due to the fact that “we always play high-level matches”, something that does not happen, for example, with Brazil and Argentina. It is worth remembering that the last four World Cups were held by the Europeans.
“There’s France already (in the list of favorite teams to win the World Cup title). I think that Brazil too, that Brazil is a good team. There are several European teams too”, began the Frenchman, current world champion. “The advantage we have here is that we always play high-level matches. We have Nations, for example.
When we arrive at the World Cup, we are ready. In that aspect, Brazil and Argentina don’t have that. In South America, football is not so advanced as in Europe. That’s why, when you look at the last World Cups, it’s always the Europeans who win”, added Mbappé.
The Brazilian team will play friendlies against South Korea and Japan on June 2 and 6, respectively, in Seoul and Tokyo. France will face Denmark, Croatia and Austria in Nations League games.
